Young Learner operators ready to go with summer programmes when safe to do so
“More than ever now, we can all appreciate just how small the world truly is and the importance of coming together”
A letter on behalf of Young Learner operators to our friends around the world:
At this time of international crisis, we have all seen the huge impact COVID-19 has had on our lives and our industry. More than ever now, we can all appreciate just how small the world truly is and the importance of coming together to protect our global community in times of great need.
As the global situation changes, our plans may too. For now, we all continue to watch the unfolding measures that governments around the world are taking to stem the tide of the virus and get us back to normal soon.
As a sector of Young Learner English Language course providers a number of us have come together to work out how best to serve you, our valued clients. It’s hard for us to navigate the unknown, but as we continue to better understand how to slow the spread of COVID-19 we want to do all we can to keep our partners, students, employees and our local communities safe. The wellbeing of our people and our students is always our number one priority.
We are all still very keen to welcome students to the UK, Ireland, US, Canada, and Malta on their summer adventures this year, and to that end we are working very hard both as individual organisations and collectively as young learner language course providers, to look at how we plan for this in the weeks ahead. At the heart of these plans will be measures to ensure the well-being of our young learners at all times during their time away from home and to also demonstrate topartners and parents alike, the procedures being put in place to ensure this.
We continue to communicate closely with our host families, host colleges, universities and boarding school venues who are equally keen to partner with us in welcoming your students and in ensuring that we are fully ready to open our doors this summer, when safe to do so.
“We continue to communicate closely with our host families, host colleges, universities and boarding school venues”
We, therefore, suggest that you discourage cancellations and requests for deposit refunds at this time until we all have a better understanding and greater clarity regarding travel and movement for Summer 2020.
Let us not forget that the global pandemic will pass. We can already see great recovery strides in China and other areas of Asia. Young people around the world will still want to learn English, experience living and learning alongside different cultures and discovering new skills through language travel. It will be up to us to work together every step of the way to rebuild confidence, offer reassurance to parents and offer a warm welcome to young learners from across the world back to our countries.
In the meantime, staying connected is more important than ever, even when we can’t be together in person. This is why you will be hearing more from us as the COVID-19 situation changes over the next few weeks. Individually and collectively we will be updating, showing highlights, memories, throwbacks, good times and happy faces.
After all, that’s why we do what we do, and what we’re looking forward to getting back to, more than anything.
Yours in continued partnership,
